On 20 May, the Goethe-Institut London is celebrating its 50th anniversary and the re-opening of its newly refurbished building with an Open Day packed with activities. Visit the new library, explore a specially-commissioned installation by German artist Gloria Zein and take part in German taster lessons. A concert by German pop-rock band Silbermond will round off the day.

Find out if Germans have a sense of humour in this exhibition of specially chosen cartoons by the German cartoonist duo Greser&Lenz. The satirical cartoons deal with topics including German, British and international news, and current political and social debates. The exhibition runs until 29 June 2012 at the German Historical Institute.
From Friday 11 May to Saturday 26 May 2012, Tate Modern will show a range of films by the late German artist, actor, performance artist, film and theatre director Christoph Schlingensief.
