| University Summer Language Course Grants | Three- to four-week language courses for undergraduates which focus on literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of contemporary Germany. Students need to be able to follow lectures in German and participate in discussions, so a good knowledge of German is essential. |
| Group study and information visits to Germany | Funding of up to a maximum of €50 per person per day, for groups of 10-15 degree-course students wishing to take part in 7 to 12 day study trips to Germany under the supervision of academic staff. These visits aim to support a mixture of academic and cultural elements and to promote better understanding between the two countries both generally and with special regard to students' subject areas. |
| One-Year Grants for Postgraduates | For recent graduates who have gained at least an upper second class (2:1) degree, or students in their final year of study. Scholarships are awarded for study or research at Master's level at any institution of higher education in Germany. |
| Research Grants for PhD Students & Junior Scholars (1-6 months) | Short-term research grants to carry out research at universities, research institutes, libraries and archives in Germany. Applicants are expected to establish contact with and secure access to the respective institution(s) before applying and to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. |
| One-Year Grant for PhD Students, Postdocs, and Junior Academics | For doctoral or post-doctoral students to study and/or conduct research at any German university, research institute, music academy or art college for a total duration of seven to ten months (1 academic year). |
| Study Visits for Senior Academics | Available to senior academics for visits to universities, research institutes, libraries and archives in Germany for the duration of 1-3 months during the calendar year, to work on specific research projects and/or visit German colleagues in order to discuss matters of mutual academic interest. (N.B. No funds are available for general information visits, attendance at conferences or lecture tours.) |
