German in the UK

In order to end the school year on a cheerful German note, Year 9 German suggested a German day. The day had a culinary focus: German waffles at break time, which was preceded by a video in assembly on waffle baking.

A slot in the school kitchen was booked, the teacher supplied two waffle irons and ingredients, kitchen staff generously accepted the invasion of their territory and kept their nerve while a bubbly group of Year 9s got into action challenging health and safety orthodoxy. All had great fun videoing, making and eating waffles.
